Your application and admission to UCSD is handled by the Office of Admissions and not the department. You will be admitted to UCSD before you will be admitted into the Jacobs School of Engineering and the MAE department. Be sure to indicate on your application that your first choice of major is within our department (see our list of majors).
Once you are admitted into UCSD, your application will go to the Dean's Office in the Jacobs School for evaluation into the School. Again, the department itself does not make the decision on admission. You will receive a letter if you are admitted into the Jacobs School of Engineering. All of our majors are open majors and are not considered impacted.

Double Majors
It is the policy of the Jacobs School of Engineering not to approve double majors within engineering. The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering supports that policy.
